PSA

Just thought my fellow caffeinateds (and maybe you decaffeinateds as well) should know:

Caffeine Content of Beverages, Foods, & Medications

(Pay attention to the volume units; you may not be consuming in different quantities.)

Nexuiz

On the list of things to check out:

Nexuiz, a GPL First-Person Shooter

It’s all GPL, right down to the texture maps! And it will support up to 64 players on a server. Linux and Windows versions are already available, with the possibility of an Apple version on the way. This may become a good “secondary” game for the PFs, if it stands up to playtesting.

Yikes

161 MB + 10 minutes + $0, and now I remember why I don’t like anything Carmack has touched, at least not recently. Although that shouldn’t matter, since they’re all the same game over and over and over and over again… and it’s only deathmatch? Developah, please.

Of course, it’s my moral imperative to stop complaining now, or write in a CTF mode. We’ll see which I choose.

Game Design 101 (Remedial)

Battlefield: 2D !

It’s a curses based game that features a whole lot of @ symbols attacking control points. The @ symbols can ride around in ‘vehicles’. It looks like this:

###
#@# - - - - - @
###

(That other @ is an infantryman, sneaking up on the tank)

–Dave, on my unfortunate abbreviation of “Battlefield 2 Demo” to BF2D

Gronk!!! Bring It!

Just don’t be too clever, or I might not stand a chance. Do you hear me, spraints?

Incoming airborne Jeep! Think fast!

(temporarily removed for import purposes -Pika)

Cue Cries Of “Typical!!”

It’s the last day off in my little mini-vacation (all of my siblings were in town, and staying with me and K, so I took the middle of the week off to spend time with them)… and I’m at home… fixing computers. :D

Seriously, some of these repairs (like rebuilding an $80 keyboard from spare parts, and setting up an old scanner to run with Linux and The GIMP) have been waiting a long time to be done, and I’m glad to be getting around to it. I promise, though… I’ll take a break soon. ;)

Um…

I should also catch up on everyone else’s blogs… I think I’m about 150 posts behind by now.
